Provincial housing MEC visits Debi Market

MEC for Housing, Ravi Pillay

Traders at Debi Market warmly welcomed provincial cabinet MEC for Housing Ravi Pillay when he went walkabout after visiting the ANC’s election kiosk. Pillay listened to the concerns of people he met at the busy market and also praised the traders for their contribution to the local economy.
“Some call this an informal economy, but this is the life and blood of the future. The infrastructure may not be that great but what you see here are people who are empowered and putting food on the table for their families,” said Pillay.
Traders used the opportunity to raise their concern over the issue of title deeds. The MEC said he would look into the matter.
Pillay said he believes that the ruling party will do well at the local government elections.
