Maritzburg United’s new signings

With only a month away to the start of the 2016/17 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, Maritzburg United has unveiled 13 new players who are set to make a huge impact in the team’s fortunes in the new season.
In the pool that was introduced on Tuesday three players are from the team’s development ranks with the 10 purchased from other teams. Briefing the media at Harry Gwala Stadium, United coach Ernst Middendorp said he was very confident with the signings, citing the bolstering of the defence as one of the priorities for the season.
“We’ve seen a lot of games that we should have picked up points from. The expectation is very high and we definitely have a good combination from the defence and front players,” said Middendorp.
In tightening the defence wall, the Team of Choice welcomed the Bloemfontein Celtics Bevan Fransman and former Mamelodi Sundowns player and Pietermaritzburg born star Bryce Moon who said he was excited to join KZN side and would give all he has in the upcoming season. “I’ve joined Maritzburg United and I am very excited to be part of the club. For the upcoming season you can expect me to give my best and be an inspiration to all young players,” Moon said.
Among the group of excited players is Tsebeletso Motjotji, 19, a young defender from Mt. Fletcher in the Eastern Cape and former Northbury Park Secondary pupil, scouted from the Multi Choice Diski Challenge, who told Maritzburg Sun that he was humbled at the prospect of playing amongst the players he looks up to. “This is an achievement which is sought by any young player out there. I’m looking forward to share the pitch with some of my role models in the field of play,” he said.
Other signings included Dennis Wieldiech, Lebohang Mabe, Luyanda Ntshangase and Bongani Mpane, a goal keeper from Celtics.
