Young Natalians win international tournament

It really appears that the sky’s the limit for the local indoor (Futsal) outfit Young Natalians.
Just a couple of weeks ago Greg Nair’s team became the league champions of the South African Indoor Football Association (Saifa), scooping another trophy and as if that was not enough, the Natalians travelled to Holland where they were also victorious in the one day tournament.
Natalians head coach Nair was proud of his team saying that there was no doubt that they were one of the best outfits that competed in the off – season event in Amsterdam. “Without blowing my horn, these youngsters made me, our country and their city proud after winning the Pos Service Holland (PSH) tournament.

My boys did well, we won the final 11-5 and the semi final 10-4. Our guys displayed some great skills and the crowd was mesmerized by our quick passing game. We were treated as the favourites of the event,”said Nair.
Adding more feathers to their already decorated cap, the Young Natalians scooped two more awards at the event – their scoring machine Sedwyn George was voted the player of the tournament and also scored the best goal during the event.
“It was a long range shot from the centre line,”said Nair.
Saifa president and local lawyer Poobie Govindasamy said he hoped the trip was an eye opener for the local side.
“We are all happy for the team, they made us, the country and their parents proud. As Saifa officials we are pleased to see that indoor (Futsal) is now growing in South Africa,”said Govindasamy.
