The R&B group, signed to Testo Records, have a list of accomplishments under their musical belt.
The year 2008 saw the group hit number one on the East Coast Radio top 9 charts with the single Don’t wanna go by from the album Ain’t dat innocent. The duos accomplishments do not stop with radio charts as they have featured as opening acts for international artists such as Jay Sean and US rapper Pitbull at the Wavehouse Gateway Durban for the 2011 Easter weekend.
The sisters relocated to Johannesburg where their primary goal for the group is to “expand their network and fan base”, said DèMonique’s manager, Omar Ebrahim.
In making the decision to move to Johannesburg DèMonique has faced various challenges in pursuing their music in a different city.
“Following your dream takes hard work, courage and commitment. We know first-hand that sometimes it seems impossible, but depending on how bad you want to achieve success, you will create opportunities for yourself”, said Deme Harris.
Break the floor music video has reached over a thousand views within two weeks of release on YouTube.
“We wanted to fill the gap that SA’s been missing and create a pop/trap influenced single that also brings out the best in our stage performance, so we went into studio and created Break The Floor with Mangray Music, for people to get their feel good twerk on,”said Niqi Harris.
DèMonique’s journey to success has not detracted from the group’s acknowledgement of their hometown.
“Pietermaritzburg is our hometown, that’s where DéMonique began their journey and where we will always come back to,” said the sisters.
