Khuzwayo was set to be sentenced yesterday after being taken into custody earlier this month.
The former policeman was convicted of the murder of Kavlin Naidoo whom he shot in a road-rage accident in 2014. Khuzwayo was also convicted of defeating the ends of justice after Khumalo delivered a damning judgement on November 15.
Naidoo’s mother, Patsy Naidoo, said she was awaiting the close of a chapter, as she is already on her way to “healing”. “I want to heal. It has come to an end but needs to come to finality, so I can let my son go and be an angel watching over my family,” said the emotionally drained Patsy.
Before the adjournment, the Naidoo family visited and donated food and clothing parcels at the Berg Street Primary School prize-giving ceremony in memory of their slain son.
“This experience has made us want to give thanks and give back to the community as we’ve received tremendous support throughout the trial,” said Patsy.
The matter is scheduled for sentencing on December 6.
