Talks at the Tatham Art Gallery

The Tatham Art Gallery

This year Dr Alleyn Diesel, retired academic, will again present a number of talks on the first Saturday of each month.
Her presentations, at R30 per session, are in aid of the Tatham Shop, with a view of funding the purchase of stock from local crafters. On Saturday, February 3 at 11am she will talk on Our Concepts of Divinity. The talk will include an examination of how modern science and philosophy have contributed to our view of the divine. Further talks by her are scheduled for Saturday, March 3 on What is Paganism? and on Saturday, April 7 on Humanism.

Dr Michael O’Connor, retired from the medical profession, is, among other interests, a stamp collector and member of the Maritzburg Philatelic Society, which will be exhibiting at the Gallery from February 13. He has done extensive research about the history of Pietermaritzburg. On Saturday, February 17, he will be talking on the history of Pietermaritzburg schools. This illustrated talk in the Tatham Lecture Theatre will focus on different schools in Pietermaritzburg coupled with a brief one line history of the suburb. On March 10 at 11.30am he will deliver a talk on the history of Pietermaritzburg churches.
