Addressing taxi commuters, Kaunda said currently the situation is still fragile and unexpected and would not urge for anyone to use the taxis stationed at the taxi rank.

A bystander was caught in the cross-fire and declared dead on the scene, SAPS confirmed to Capital Media earlier, while another person, who was shot in his leg, drove off in a taxi.

“Everything is still being organised, we want to put your safety first, whether you’re going to Greytown, Msinga or Kranskop we want you to arrive safely,” he said.

He assured that he will meet with the relevant taxi association leaders to come an amicable decision.  “It will be a brief meeting to outline what needs to be attended. The government is here, whoever breaks the law will be thoroughly prosecuted”.
